Famous Actors And The Rock Stars They Should Portray
Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to write, direct and star in a feature film about Freddie Mercury, the late Queen frontman. Cohen had been previously attached to the project but dropped out in 2013 due to the commonly cited “creative differences.” There were reports that Cohen was interested in making a more graphic R-rated film. It appears that he has gotten his wish with the announcement that he has now been given control of the project.
Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor have gone on record as saying they think the casting of the “Borat” star would be a mistake. Whether Cohen is able to convincingly play the part of the iconic singer won’t be known until the film is released.
In the meantime, we thought it would be fun to suggest some actors who should start petitioning for these rocker roles.
RUSSELL CROWE as EDDIE VEDDER
As long as Russell is still Alive, he’s the only one who should play Eddie.
AMANDA SEYFRIED as MADONNA
If you’ve seen “Mamma Mia!” you know Amanda can sing. This could be the perfect casting.
ETHAN HAWKE as MARK MCGRATH
Sometimes we wonder if Ethan bleached his hair just so he could rock out to some Sugar Ray in private.
BLAKE LIVELY as KESHA
Sorry, Blake. Please don’t be offended.
PHIL ROBERTSON as BILLY GIBBONS
Phil may not qualify as a “famous actor,” but if we were producing the ZZ Top story, we’d still give him a call. With some camera trickery, he just might be able to play Dusty Hill as well.
DUSTY HILL
JAMIE FOXX as TOMMY LEE
OK, so their faces may not look alike, but…
And finally, in the too obvious to even mention category:
WILL FERRELL as CHAD SMITH
video-player-present
People have been talking about Will’s resemblance to the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer for years… and you will get no argument from us.
